Restoring 'Flan' [YES]

Postby Dr. Luygi » 14 Nov 2010 19:14

It has come to my attention that the level 'Flan' has aged terribly. So, I modenized it!

The differences that I found and my ratings of them.

double hit red coin box instead of 2 single hit boxes
==
very good -- I like this addition

extra solidified bridge
==
ok -- but why not just use blocks?

enemy changes
==
not good -- for the sake of simplicity consistency and many other reasons, please keep the enemies as they were (although the crush can stay)
Please note I am a very busy person and may disappear for months at times....
If I vanished and you want something I was working on completed..... just PM me
PM reaches my email and that will shove SMC up in my priority.

This seems for in Development then Release, so would you mind if I moved it over?

No, not at all. I would like the final version in releases when the finished version of Flan is released.

I AM going to move this to Upstream update, because updates on levels go there. :mrgreen:

Anyway, U have to admit, I am kinda....Meh...About your update of the level, mainly because of the fact I never liked the idea of editing other peoples levels unless they need to fit the world or unless there is a bug, but my own personal opinions on the changes are:

The poll on the platform where you start was changed to Climbable.....Why? The other one was only climbable so you could get the mushroom.

I have to admit, I liked the 2 blocks with red coins because I could get both at the same time, them being in the same box isn't as fun for me.

The yellow stairs look OUT of place.

I guess the signs are ok, but every other edit isn't really needed.

That is about it.
Feeling nostalgic for this ol' place!

I concur with all of Crabmaster's comments. The red coin box seems to be the only useful update.
