"Invisible Block"

I'm naming this the infamous "Invisible Block Glitch" .

This happens all the time in my case. Enemies are frozen inside of an "invisible block" ( :gshroom: :gshroom: :gshroom: ) and they're not inside of a block, but they don't move, they turn repetitively and shake constantly. Any help :?:

What SMC version? 1.9? And is it a "Ghost" itembox, or is it an "Invisible" itembox, or just a random block out of nowhere that you can't see but enemies get stuck in it?

None of the above. It's not actually a block. Or any of that other stuff.

Are you running a Git revision or the latest stable (1.9)? There have been a lot d new technologies and bugs fixed in recent git revisions.

Does anyone know if a patch has been put in for this? If not, a screenshot or a level that quickly creates this problem will help any developers who try to fix this.

Just a thought, though - I seem to remember someone requesting that you be able to fall downward through invisible blocks and only be able to hit them with your head. In many cases, that is how they probably should behave. However, invisible blocks on which you can stand sometimes are useful for secrets. I use an invisible block like this in my Desert Break level and hint it with a coin. This then allows the user to reach a secret area.

Please, report bugs at the bugtracker, I don’t always look here.

As for the issue, I don’t understand. Could you be more precise on how to reproduce the problem? Ghost blocks, massive blocks? Or what? Please, post a screenshot if you can’t explain.

Vale,
Quintus

I'm not following the bug tracker statement. I'm a site veteran. You're not. And... AGAIN, THERE ARE NOT ANY BLOCKS OF THE SORT WHEN IT HAPPENS!!! And it's the latest version.

We started using the issue tracker (NEW URL - https://github.com/Secretchronicles/TSC) in order to manage our issues. It really helps if we have one place to look for them. Sometimes we forget to check this site because we get a lot of email notifications when spam bots post. We have been talking about moving to a different issue tracker on secretchronicles.de, but this is going to take some time.

I think you actually can stand on invisible blocks. I'd be interested to see how enemies are getting behind blocks, though.
Can you make a video of the issue? That would be an easy way to show us the issue and prevent any confusion.

I'd make a video if I had video software or a good-quality camera. Unfortunately, I have neither. I'm not going to use HyperCam, either... HyperCam is annoying... Just like me in every grade if school I've been in. 8)

fraps works pretty well in Windows:
http://www.fraps.com/

recordMyDesktop works pretty well in Linux:
I think this is the URL: http://recordmydesktop.sourceforge.net/about.php

You should not need a physical camera...you should only need software.

I've used Fraps in the past but I couldn't figure out how to use it properly.

If you try Fraps again, I could try to help answer any questions you have.

Otherwise I'm sure there are some alternatives out there for Windows.

I would be willing to try HyperCam again. Would that work?

I think that will work. The website says it outputs to an AVI file, which you should be able to upload to YouTube. Once it's on YouTube, everyone can easily check it out.
