Keys for new lock system

Postby mrvertigo27 » 01 Jan 2010 23:47

well, i somehow managed to make a simple thing much harder than needed, but the end result looks nice i think, I goggled export rectangles and found what FluXy meant about that I am fairly confidant that these are up to standards and ready for commit. oh, the rectangles are in a layer named export, if i did anything wrong regarding this please let me know and I will make a note of it for future projects.

Feedback :
- The color block on the key will be very small ingame and could be unnoticeable. Maybe make completely different keys as colors (wood = brown, metal = silver, gold = gold, stone = black, wood with moss and leafs = green, etc...). The current gold one is good enough but it should be for a golden chest and we only have the wooden upstream ;)
- Background alpha color for the locks should be black (i think this is only possible if you move them into a new svg and set it there)
- Export rectangles must be a power of 2 (for the images).
- Export rectangles should have an export filename. You can select a rectangle easily with the XML Editor in Inkscape or by changing the color to something visible temporarily and export it once.
If i didn't read your post but it was important you can send me a PM.

AHHH I understand now, Iwill work on this, I mis interpreted the planned system, I'll take development back to the graphics forum as this may take awhile to get right

will do, as this makes sence.

- Export rectangles must be a power of 2 (for the images).

not sure how to do this, will search on how to get this effect.
- Export rectangles should have an export filename. You can select a rectangle easily with the XML Editor in Inkscape or by changing the color to something visible temporarily and export it once
again, not really clear on how to do this but i will look into it.

The first time export is only so Inkscape saves the name for the batch export later.
See other graphics like snow ground for a better understanding of this.

so 2X2 4X4 8X8 16X16 32X32 64X64 128x128 256X256 512X512 1024X1024 or can I mix and match powers of two? like 32X64 512X1024 and so on.

Yeah, you can mix and match. See the sprites section in the wiki: http://www.secretmaryo.org/wiki/index.p ... MC:Sprites
