I've got SDL no problem, *BUT* CEGUI requires INSTALLATION and I don't have the admin password!!! (School computer.) Should I take it from an existing copy of SMC or what?

BTW I can't apply the patch using the patch command. It just doesn't do anything! Where can I get a copy of the source with the patch pre-installed?

... Anyone?

How are you applying the patch? What version of the source code are you using?

And nobody posts here anymore because this topic is half-dead. Without FluXy's okay, we really have nothing to discuss.

The source code for 2.0 is available. Just download the source from http://github.com/FluXy/SMC. And as for information about the patch command I mean I'm asking for the entire chunk of text you wrote to the command-line, along with the current working directory is when your running it.

MrV raises a good point, there is no such thing as SMC 2.0. All there is is the development sources, which will most likely be named 2.0 when released.

One thing before I give you that info: I moved the patch to my desktop (~/Desktop) and renamed it "smc.patch."

The entire chunk of text I wrote is as follows:

patch ~/Desktop/smc.patch

And as for my working directory:
My home folder (/Users/student (I'd set it to deved if I could, but it's a school computer I'm using, remember?) OR just ~ (because I don't like typing /Users/student :]]))

Am I doing something wrong :?: What is it :?:

You need to run:

Code: Select all
patch -p0 -i ~/Desktop/smc.patch

Dell Vostro (Windows 7)
Dell Inspiron 1440 (Windows Server 2003, Debian w/ KDE)

:( I got an error message:

can't find file to patch at input line 5
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:

|diff --git a/smc/src/core/game_core.cpp b/smc/src/core/game_core.cpp
|index a7defe8..b3afa41 100644
|--- a/smc/src/core/game_core.cpp

Calm down. You can't expect us to provide help for 3rd party add-ons. That's the whole point of them being 3rd party. The only person who will really be able to offer good support is the creator, and he hasn't been on for a long time. This add-on, much like the game itself and all other open-source software, is supplied as-is, with no warranty or guaranteed support contract. That's why people buy software. ;)

i would like to go on record as having said this.

to all people learning to compile or patch, in general do technical things, we are a friendly community and as such are willing to give what support we can to like minded individuals. This is a community effort and as is the nature with community work we tend to do things in our own time and may take awhile to post help or guidance to your problem. We are here to help to the best of our ability however we do wish members of this community will remember that we do so for a few reasons:
1. we have a big heart and wish to help others
2. we are bored and use this to fill our time
3. we have a passion for the project or some aspect there of
4. we enjoy the feeling of being a part of something greater
5. some other benevolent reason.

we may help you if we can, or we may not if we are unable. It is important to exercise patients with those willing to help, it is even more important to aid those giving help by remaining polite and courteous.
If something falls outside of the focus of the project help may be sparse however we might be able to point to a wiki or other resourse that may help you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this may become a longer official message in the future but for now please just remember that we are all here to make this project better in one way or annother. Please remember to treat others well and thank others for help ESPECIALLY when they are helping with something non standard such as patches or game modifications.
