Pipe Connectors in a Separate Section

Postby -DarkAceZ- » 06 Apr 2011 15:36

Pipe Connectors take up over 1/2 of the Blocks tab and it's kinda a mess with all those Pipe Connectors. Wouldn't it be better if they had their own section called Pipe Connectors? :D

Yes. I'll see if I can get time to upload a patch to editor.xml today.

Won't we also need to change all the .settings files too?

Uh, yes, we definitely will. The settings files are how the game knows where to put them in the menu...

Isn't it in the editor.xml file?

No. level_items.xml is for objects which have associated code, such as boxes, enemies e.t.c. level_menu.xml just defines the categories shown in the menu, and their associated tags. For normal sprite objects, these tags are read from the settings files.

As an example, this entry in level_menu.xml:
Code: Select all
   <item>
      <property name="name" value="Green Ground" />
      <property name="tags" value="green;ground" />
      <property name="color" value="FFA0E21E" />
   </item>

Will create a category Green Ground in the menu, and in that category, it will put any images with
Code: Select all
editor_tags level;green;ground

In their settings file into that menu category.

So if we want a new menu category, it will need to go in level_menu.xml and have its tags in the settings file for each image in the category.
