:!: SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE THIS A FEATURE! The option is Multiplayer. You can can also create multiplayer skins and use premade ones. The names appear above the players in that certain multiplayer level. The options are All Out, Team Battle, and Co-Op. Custom multiplayer levels can't be made. Well, if you want to, you guys caan make it another feature, but you don't have to. The multiplayer levels are unique.

I'm just going to say this, but... These are some pretty big requests, especially for a project that seems to be on the verge of death.... :P

I can assure you multiplayer is really hard to implement. It’s not just "make a second Maryo and that’s it". There has to be all the code for interaction between the players, camera coordination (which one shall the camera follow?), displaying points, etc. per-player, team interaction if you want more than two players, ... And finally I’d like to say I simply don’t like the idea of a multi-player SMC. It seems... wrong to me. I don’t really like the multiplayer Mario games as well... However, that’s just me...

Not to mention the hell you have to go through to get networked multiplayer, which is a must (IMO) for team games.

If you want a multiplayer game, here's probably the basics of what we will need.

1. Servers. Lots Of servers, for computing and transmitting every action, velocity, object on the game in real time which gets passed to the end user. Another server would be needed just for player matching (if you want random) and connections. Another for databases, and another for user content.
2. Requring users to have fast Internet. Since we are transmitting so much data at once, we need fast Internet connections unless you want hiccups.
3. Lots of processing power.

Actually, all you're really transmitting is the current X/Y velocity of every player, which changes every frame.

But that shouldn't take more than a few bytes. Maybe a kilobyte. I dunno, but it should be very small.

EDIT: The only reason a SMC (Secret Maryo Chroicles, just for clarification) server should crash is if there are a trillion players online.

1. Hundreds, not trillions, would crash an individual server, and that's if that server was SUPERB.
2. You don't transmit velocities, but locations.
3. You also transmit the states of all other objects on the screen.
4. Servers can be maintained by users, not just us.
5. So many other things...
