ALL CREDIT GOES TO "aanderse" on the IRC for these.
Data doesn't actually belong in ~, that just clutters up your home folder! It actually (According to aanderse :P) belongs in $XDG_DATA_HOME, which is usually "~/.config". This patch will take care of that:
Patch: SMC-xdg.diff
You might have already used SMC, and want to keep your data, so aanderse made a bash script to move your current data (~/.smc) to $XDG_DATA_HOME.
BashScript: SMC-update.sh

He is correct and this patch is legit. I approve. =)
