Online Rendering Engine

Postby Fabianius » 01 Jan 2009 17:29

Some months ago, I made a PHP-script that renders a level as a HTML-file. Due to that, you can view your levels with your browser and without the game. You will see, that there are lots of problems to solve and it isn't easy to do that (for example turn and reflect PNG-graphics with alpha compositing). I made it just for fun, I currently don't have a plan where we could use the script.

The script is on my own Apache-server, so it isn't online all the time.

Wow, nice thing!! Cool, really. 8)
I got two problems: lots of errors and the levels and graphic are sooo old. Pre 1?
But nice proof of concept.

This is a very good concept, and could be helpful as a preview engine in the Level / World Database I started work on, so ever long ago.

I tried to view this, but the server wasn't up. Does this render a PNG or a HTML file? If a PNG, does it take advantage of caching? This would be very useful for previews if a more advanced level repository comes to be if it can render 128x128 thumbnails along with larger screenshots.

this may be helpful for creating official level maps! and or creating a tricks and tips guide to smc. like some of those other game guides people buy but ours would be an all inclusive pdf or something.

If it was self-published on http://www.lulu.com/ or something purchases could be used as a form of donation!
